Trump & Putin Hold Press Briefing After Summit, July 16, 2018

This is the most difficult question of the briefing to hear. The format of the briefing called for alternating questions between US and Russian reporters. For this question, the audio of the previous Russian question overlaps the current question from Jeff Mason of Reuters.

It is difficult to hear the beginning of Jeff Mason's question. But the full question is - "President Putin, did you want President Trump to win the election, and did you direct any of your officials to help him do that?"

Putin' response - "Yes I did, yes I did, because he talked about bringing the US - Russian relationship back to normal." The question clearly had 2 parts. Putin clearly answered yes to both parts, admitting that Russia had attacked our election.

This was another significant propaganda gift to Putin. Again, consider the optics of this scene. Putin stood next to Trump and said that Russia attacked our election, and Trump did nothing.
